How to fix the panel of plastic on the wall. Wall decoration with plastic panels

Instructions

PVC panels can be attached to walls and ceilings, using both a wooden or metal crate, and mounting glue  , if the surface is flat enough. If panels  are attached to the frame, the space between panels  and a wall (or ceiling) can be filled with a heater or soundproofing material.

To start editing panels  , make a frame of wooden bars or mounting your profile  . If the panels are to be fixed vertically, the lath must be horizontal. The smaller the distance between the carcass bars, the harder the surface will be as a result.

If you do wood  skeleton, then attach the panel to it with the help of mounting brackets or small nails. If the frame is made of a special mounting profile, then for mounting the panels, use the mounting brackets.

Start installing PVC panels from one of the corners of the room, fixing the inner corner or the finish element in it. After that, you can start to install the panels, inserting them into the grooves and not forgetting to anchor panel  on each bar or installation profile of the crate.

If the surface of walls or ceiling allows to do without a skeleton, fastening of panels can be carried out by means of mounting glue "Liquid nails  ". To do this, cut out the panel of the required length, then apply evenly a small amount of glue to its back side, and attach the panel to wall  or ceiling.

Panels are inserted one after another to the corner walls  , window or doorway, where they should be edged by an internal or external corner. After completing the installation of the panels, you need to install plinth  and other decorative elements that hide the edges of the panels.

Recently, decorative wall panels  have become one of the most popular materials for interior decoration of walls. This is understandable. The low cost of wall panels and the ease of care for this material make panels  very attractive to consumers. Wall cladding panels is perhaps the most simple and "clean" way of finishing the room. In addition, even a layman can cope with such finishing.

You will need

  • - building level;
  • - self-tapping screws;
  • - Drill;
  • - plane;
  • - Roulette;
  • - saw;
  • - a bracket with staples;
  • - a hammer;
  • - wooden slats.

Instructions

Calculate the amount of material and components Measure the length of the wall using a tape measure and divide the resulting number by the width of the panels. At measurements it is necessary to consider also the sizes of door and window apertures. Their value must be subtracted from the previously obtained wall length. Separately calculate the amount of surfaces under the windows, as well as above the door and windows. The length of the panels should be chosen based on the ceiling height in the room. The number of components must be calculated based on the features of the finish of door and window openings, as well as the number of external and internal corners in the room.

Prepare panels  and tools. It should be remembered that when unpacking a pack with wall panels is not recommended to pull out panels  from the end of the pack, tk. this can lead to scratches on their front parts. Prepare the necessary number of rails for the crate. For the installation of plastic panels, it is recommended to use galvanized metal parts.

Mount the laths Mark the walls and attach the wooden slats to them using dowels and screws. All the racks must be leveled. The distance between the slats should be 50-60 cm. It should be noted that the rails of the crate must be located strictly perpendicular to the panels. For horizontal installation of the panels, the slats should be mounted vertically on the wall, with horizontal mounting horizontally.

Mount the wall panelsInstallation of wall panels should start from the left corner and move to the right corner or window or doorway. Install in the corner with the help of metal brackets a special corner (finishing element). Insert the first panel into the groove of the corner. For this purpose, a mounting shelf is provided panels. Verify the verticality of the attachment using the building level. Fasten the mounting shelf of the second panels  on the crate. Insert the tenon next panels  in the groove already installed. When installing the panels, make sure that they fit together as close as possible to each other. The last wall panel is inserted into the groove of the finish element.

If you need to quickly and, most importantly, cheaply ennoble such premises as a bathroom, a balcony or a storage room, then you will not find a better way than decorating walls with plastic panels. Repair using PVC panels can be done on their own, provided that you have all the necessary tools, skills in construction and spare time. How easy and high-quality to install plastic panels with your own hands, read in our article.

  PVC plastic panels have a very high practicality and durability, so they have recently become very popular for premises for various purposes.

In addition, the wall finishing with PVC panels is considered to be the most democratic at the price, since the installation costs are not too high, and similar repairs are possible even for a beginner master.

Such panels for the bathroom are an excellent option in view of the fastest mounting process among their counterparts. With their application, even become visually much more comfortable.

Selection of plastic panels

When choosing PVC panels, pay special attention to the country in which they are made. Although the quality of Chinese building materials has improved noticeably, still try to buy domestic or European products. Do not hesitate and ask the seller to tell you in detail about the characteristics of this or that panel.
  If you purchase panels for rooms with high humidity, try to choose the slats with a smooth surface, as the accumulation of moisture on the protruding figure, can lead to the formation of mold.

As for color, there are many options. Especially popular is the coloring of red-brown gypsum, but there are others: with ornamentation, imitation of wood, stone and marble.

Necessary tools and building materials

In order to transform the bath you will need the following materials and tools:

  • Plastic panels;
  • Plastic corners (moldings), conventional and;
  • Metal crate or narrow wooden bars for the frame;
  • Self-tapping screws, kleimers or glue for panels;
  • Screwdriver;
  • Level;
  • Punch or drill;
  • Dowel-nails;
  • Hacksaw with small teeth, pencil, tape measure and square;
  • It will also require a sealant to reliably protect all joints from penetration of moisture.

Choosing how to fix the panels

It is necessary to choose the way of fixing the panels: this can be done with the help of screws, kleimers, or glue.

  Various ways of fastening plastic panels
  • Planting panels on glue in the future will lead to the fact that they will be difficult to tear off the walls back in case of unforeseen circumstances or repairs. You can use this method if the walls are level.
  • With the version with screws it will be necessary to spend time on their screwing, so without a screwdriver here you can not do. If you chose this method, use wooden bars for the frame, pretreated with an antiseptic. Wooden bars are installed on the wall with a drill-perforator and a dowel of screws
  • In addition to the wooden crate, you can use the metal profile used to mount the plasterboard. It is fixed to the walls, using dowels-screws. Panels to the metal profile are joined by means of screws with a press washer.
  • The best way is to use the Kleimers. These are special brackets that wedge into the crate and secure the panels securely. Installation takes place quickly and without unnecessary holes in the wall - you only need to fix the mounting PVC strips. In contrast to wooden and metal fasteners, the PVC strips are resistant to corrosion and rot. Fastening of the strip is made by a screw into the recessed (groove) part of the profile.

  The process of installing the battens
  • For the creation of the crate, wooden blocks of 2x4 centimeters or special plastic profiles for PVC panels are used.
  • For stiffening the walls, the first rack of the battens should go along the floor, and the rest should be every 40-60 centimeters. It is also necessary to fix the rail at the end of the panels, at the ceiling or in another place - if you decide not to wall the wall in full growth.
  • Before you fix the cross bars, be sure to mark the wall.
  • Further drill holes in the wall with a perforator and fix the bar with dowels. If there are grooves on the wall, place a piece of wood under them.

Installation of moldings and corners

Fastening of panels on walls

On an example of a bathroom, we will consider in detail the process of installing plastic panels:

We recommend that you look at the practical process of installing panels in a video lesson:

Whichever method of installation of plastic panels you choose, as a result you will receive significant savings in money, shortening the repair time and beautiful appearance of the bathroom.

Thus, in a short period of time, you can transform any room. To do this, you do not need a long preparation and leveling of the walls, the installation process is simple, like twice two. In addition, you will surely find the color you like in a large selection of colors. These advantages have made plastic panels one of the most popular materials for finishing the walls in the apartment.

Among the variety of options for decoration of walls today the most popular plastic panels. It is a universal material that can be used for decorating walls in any premises. This article will help you understand how the walls are made using plastic panels with their own hands.

Having the desire to make the wall lining using plastic panels, the very beginning of the repair work will be the choice of the material. But before that you should find out what the given construction material is. Plastic panels are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) by extrusion. As a result of using this method, the dense molten mass of the substance, thanks to special equipment, is squeezed out through the holes (profiled). These holes correspond to the parameters of the produced panels. After this, the workpieces are cooled and cut into a width. In this way, different types of material can be obtained.

In addition to the thickness, the width can also vary from 20 to 37 cm. For this product, the standard height is 260, 270 and 300 cm.

Also, you should know that there are the following varieties of this material:

  • Laminated panels with a special coating. To date, laminated panels are used most often.
  • Plastic lining. Its dimensions are 10x300 cm.
  • Sheet panels. The sheets have the following dimensions: width up to 120 cm, and height - up to 245 cm.
  • Panels that look like rectangular or square tiles. With their own hands, a mosaic is formed on the walls. Their dimensions can be as follows: 30x30 cm, 30x60 cm, 90x90 cm.

In addition, there are special moisture resistant materials for installation in rooms where there is high humidity (kitchen, bathroom, balcony, loggias). In addition, such products may differ in terms of strength.

It is worth noting that, depending on the top layer of panels, this material is divided into three groups:

  • Laminated sheets. Here, a special film is applied to the surface of the plates with a two-component adhesive. It, thanks to a special texture, is able to imitate a wide variety of natural materials: marble, wood, leather, etc. Such a surface is resistant to abrasion, light and moisture. Therefore, laminated panels for a long time during operation are able to maintain their original appearance.
  • Offset printing for sheets. In this situation, the image is applied using a two-stage printer. At the first stage, a pattern is printed with the help of paints, and on the second stage, an antistatic varnish is applied. Most often, this is done in imitation of marble. Advantages of this coating method include increased moisture resistance, physical strength and resistance to chemical influences.
  • Thermal transfer / thermal transfer on sheets. Here on the surface of the panels the pattern is transferred from the thermo film by pressing it against the surface of the sheets. In the process of applying the pattern, the temperature can reach 150-180 degrees. This method does not require a special protective coating of lacquer. Such panels have a bright color, an excellent decorative appearance and resistance to external influences and UV rays.

Choosing this or that type of panels (laminated, sheets, mosaic) in order to cover the walls, you need to be guided by the following parameters:

  • Type of premises (hallway, bathroom, kitchen, etc.).
  • Features of each kind of panels (laminated, sheets, mosaic).
  • Necessity for the presence of protruding elements (ornament, mosaic).
  • Degree of curvature of walls. For example, if there is a slight slope of the walls, you can use panels that can slightly bend. In such a situation, you can visually adjust the flatness of the wall surface visually without any problems.
  • Dimensions of the room. For small rooms, you need to choose stronger materials that can withstand frequent collisions with your surface.

Please note that it is more difficult to choose products with mosaic and ornament.

This is due to the fact that if you attach such sheets to the walls with your own hands, then there may be problems with installing them in the situation of reducing the number of slits. The same problems are possible in the process of assembling the components: moldings, corners, etc. This is due to the fact that the mosaic is embossed. Therefore, without cracks in the corners here is indispensable.

Another stumbling block in the choice of such building materials is the assortment of flowers. Laminated and other types of panels have an extensive color range. The most popular today is the coloring for red-brown gypsum, imitation of wood, marble and stone. This cladding is often found not only in offices, but also in homes. This finish has excellent decorative properties.

Preparatory work

Wall decoration with plastic panels, which will be carried out by hand, always begins with preparation for work. Here it is necessary to perform the following manipulations:

  • we conduct room measurements;
  • we calculate how many materials and components (moldings, corners) are needed for work;
  • determination of the type of panels (laminated, mosaic, etc.), as well as their parameters (dimensions, width, height);
  • the way in which it is most easier and more profitable to wall-cover;
  • purchase of tools and materials necessary for work;
  • cleaning the walls from the old finish, which can interfere with the cladding.

Please note that after purchasing construction materials, you need to give them a little time to lie in unpacked form inside the premises. This is enough for 12 hours.

Only in that situation, when the preparation was carried out correctly, you can decorate the walls with plastic panels with your own hands.

Installation of plastic panels

After preparation, you can proceed with the direct assembly of the panels with your own hands. To cover the walls with such sheets, the following procedures should be carried out:

  • make markup;
  • to establish a frame;
  • fix the panels and corners on the frame;
  • to establish completing elements (moldings).

Each stage of editing has its own peculiarities, which we will discuss in more detail in the corresponding subparagraph.

Marking work

Assuming the installation of sheets on the frame, you need to perform marking work, during which the wall is applied to the dimensions of sections of the structure. This is done in order to level the wall surface. It should be noted that the marking for plastic panels is applied in the same way as for plasterboard and is determined by the way the sheets are installed (horizontally or vertically). With a vertical installation, the marking is applied horizontally, and with horizontal mounting - vertically.

Mounting the frame

Panels can be installed without a frame on a special adhesive compound. But this is a rare situation, since it assumes a perfectly flat surface of the walls. Most often, the framework is assembled from the following elements:

  • wooden beams;
  • metal profiles;
  • plastic profiles.

The crate itself for all three warrants is carried out according to a single scheme. Differences begin only during the installation of panels.

Note that the smaller the distance between the frame elements, the more solid the whole structure will be.

The optimal distance is considered to be the distance between adjacent elements of 30-50 cm. The elements of the frame to the wall are attached along the marking lines with the help of dowels or self-tapping screws. Begin the installation with the left and right guides. After this, horizontal or vertical crossbars are fastened between them, observing the chosen step.

To increase the rigidity of the construction, vertical racks are mounted in it.

Lamella fastening

After the frame has been fully installed, you can proceed to install the panels. Always secure the lamellae from the corner. The first panel is inserted into the finish profile (special corners). The lamellae should fit tightly into the corners. The corners are fixed close to the frame with the help of self-tapping screws. Also, the corners can be attached using a special construction stapler and staples. In the presence of a metal frame, you should fix the corners with the help of clamps.

Let's consider all variants of fixation of lamellas to a skeleton:

  • Glue. This can not be very beneficial, because when dismantling the structure of the panel will be difficult to separate from the frame. This method is used only if there are even walls.
  • Self-tapping screws. A long way. It takes a long time to spin the screws.
  • Kleimer. It is considered the most optimal way. Klyaymery represent the form of special staples, which are wedged between the lamellas and the crate. As a result, fastening of panels occurs quickly, and extra holes are not formed.

When the first panel has been installed, a second lamella is attached to it using a special comb and groove. It is fixed and the procedure is repeated to the end of the wall. At the end of the wall, for a beautiful transition to the next surface, you need to make a corner attachment to the last panel.
